This was a great find in the Land Park area. I'm Puerto Rican and I have a craving for some authentic boricua food from time to time. I loved this place!

I've been eager to visit Lola's for a while. First of all, the parking situation is terrible. There are tow-away signs on the street, and the parking lot across the street is reserved for other businesses, making it seem impossible to find parking. However, Lola's has a very cute interior and an even cuter outdoor patio. I initially thought Lola's served only Puerto Rican food, but it turns out to be a mix of various Hispanic cuisines. Our waitress was very kind and even gave us complimentary celebratory drinks since we were celebrating. Please note that I've never had Puerto Rican food before, so I have nothing to compare it to. My review is based solely on my taste buds and not on authenticity. We started with beef empanadas and found them to be very tasty. My friend loved her mofongo and found it authentic. My husband ordered the guisado, something I didn't think he'd enjoy, but he found it flavorful and delicious. I got the pastelón, which is lasagna made with plantains instead of noodles. Wow! I was surprised by how much I loved it. Ground turkey can sometimes lack the flavor of ground beef, but this was perfect. It had the perfect balance of sweet and savory. We will definitely be going back.

I finally made my way to this spot. And I am I so happy I did. I was born and raised in San Francisco. I also lived in the East bay for some time. I've been here in Sacramento for almost 7 years and it's comforting to know this place exists in Sacramento. I ordered the Puerto Rican Special. I did not take a pic of the food cause I demolished my plate. lol The food brought back so many childhood memories. Just how my grandma use to cook. My husband had the Boricua Street meal. Unfortunately a part of his meal was still cold. Thankfully the waiter was able to get a freshly cooked meal. Overall, the Pernil was spectacular! The meat was so tender and juicy. For my drink I ordered the Lola's Rita. The restaurant itself reminded me of a spot my husband and I went to in Canada. The decor was very nice. Loved the light fixtures. The staff were amazing. Good people. I plan to bring my mom next time.

Went here with my girlfriend and two friends, I was dying to try their Paella. My first impression is that parking was not easy, every lot has a tow sign, even places that I thought were safe to park (like Tower Cafe) so give yourself a little more time. The room is attractive and the service professional. They tell you to give like 40 minutes for the Paella, but it doesn't take quite that long. The Paella is for 2 so you will be satiated even with a big appetite. The shrimp and rice with the accompanying mussels were good and a better than average Paella. This is a reasonably priced restaurant for a small space, and the food is good with many creative dishes. Here is a sample of the dishes Paella: Empanadas: Fish tacos: I would go back to sample the other dishes and for dessert.

We very much enjoyed our dinner at Lola last night. We happened in during happy hour so were able to enjoy a few discounted beverages. In all honesty, we had eaten here when they were in Elk Grove years ago but had not been to the new location. Very cool vibe with some street parking available. We opted for the paella for two. The dish arrived and was surprisingly full of shellfish. We actually had to search for the chicken and ask about the chorizo. There are teeny tiny little bits of indiscernible chorizo throughout the rice. An interesting albeit odd cooking choice. We also were denied the crispy paella rice as the dish didn't quite cook long enough to achieve the socarrat. Service was friendly and very efficient. Maia took excellent care of us to the point of bringing us some "secret sauce" for our dish. It definitely added some nice flavor. All in all a positive experience that makes us look forward to sampling some more items from the menu.

This is very good puertorican food! The drinks are very good too. Very authentic and is so hard to find Caribbean food in Sacramento. The pernil and empanadas are so flavorful and just scrumptious. It comes with tostones and all of it is a very generous portion! I couldn't finish it all. I did order empanadas which were pretty big and might have been the reason I got so full, but definitely worth it. I had the drink with rum and it was very good. Enough alcohol and sweet. I wanted sangria but they were out of it. Theg also serve Cuban sandwich which I want to come back to try. The service was great, there was no wait on a weekday night. Parking is a bit tough to find. I will definitely be back and I recommend.

Lola's is a hidden gem.. I had to circle around the block to see it across from Willie's which I've driven past 100 times and never noticed Lola's! The ambience is perfect for a date night, dimly lit with comfy booths and even couches. The service was awesome, we were seated immediately on a Friday night at 8. There's a lot of seating available and it was relatively full. Our waitress was quick and friendly! The food: we ordered the fried polenta, nachos, and the half and half order of sweet and savory plantains. The polenta was interesting, the fried pieces themselves were crispy and bland. But the chicken topping (you can choose between chicken and pork I believe) was super tasty! I just wish they had put more of the topping to make a better balance for the polenta. The fried plantains both styles were great for different ways! The sweet ones were like a cinnamon banana dessert and the savory (flat) ones were similar to fried mashed potatoes with yummy garlic on top. They came with a dipping sauce that tasted similar to sour cream and hot sauce. But, the NACHOS, don't skip out on the nachos!!! The queso they use is sooo delicious! The chips are thick so they don't get soggy, and they put heaps of shredded pork with crema, tomatoes, jalapeños and more! They were my favorite. I was a little disappointed because their menu online on Yelp says they have a lot of items that are not available like sliders and pizzas. Please update your yelp menu! :)
